Tools - Choosing The Right Tools For The Job

Ask the old Professor

Got a question or a problem that needs solving? Want to know just how compatible your selection of components is? We may be able to help. Whether it's an audio term you don't understand, or a problem of how to connect components together, we have one of the more comprehensive stores of consumer audio information on the Web.

The first step we ask you to take, is to visit our Car Audio Advice & Education section, or our Home Audio Advice & Education section. There you will find everything from the definitions of audio terms, to complete explanations (with diagrams) of exactly how speakers work. If you cannot find what you are looking for in these sections, or if you have a question that requires a specific answer tailored precisely to your particular needs, then we will be happy to help you out with one-on-one personal service. However, we cannot answer questions about installations in particular automobiles, or identify exact repair procedures.

There are some matters for which competent personal service from a repair service or installation specialist cannot be substituted.

Our technical staff is headed up by Jim Peterson, a member of the International Society of Audio Consultants. He has over a quarter century of hands-on experience in audio sales, and repair, and has been highly rated as an expert in Consumer Electronics at various Q&A sites on the Web.

Or, ask Jim, or one of our other technicians a question.

But first, a few rules:

1. Please keep your question on one subject, and be as specific as you can. But No more than 100 words total.

2. You must tell us the Brand and Model Numbers of each related component ( typically, amp, speakers, woofers, receiver, and/or enclosure ) you wish to discuss.

3. Do not ask about car audio installation problems related to specific cars. Our specialty is electronics and acoustics only. For car installation problems, see:
Epinions install Forum
or,
The 12 Volt Forum
or,
Manufacturer's advice or,
Head Unit replacement instructions or,

4. Make sure you are communicating from your permanent home e-mail address, otherwise you may not get a response. Also, please tell us your first name. Because we respect our customer's privacy, you will receive no spam from us.
